Troubleshooter of Error: All web browsers fail to render/load web pages after a while (seems somewhat random in terms of when)__I have also seen this occur even when I do not have any browser running.__

All web browsers fail to render/load web pages after a while (seems somewhat random in terms of when)__I have also seen this occur even when I do not have any browser running.__

I've seen this using FireFox, Internet Explorer 8, Flock, and K-Melon to mention a few.

This started a couple weeks ago, no explanation.

I tried both NIC ports (system has two), but got the same result.
Also did a clean install of Vista 64 Home Premium, same result.
Tried resetting DSL Modem, same result
Tried stopping and restarting virtually all windows services, same result
Underlying TCP/IP connection is still ok - I can ping www.google.com without any issue.
Scanned system with several Anti-virus/malware utilities, nothing found.

The pages ether quit rendering completely, or only text links display.
Clicking on the links typically results in opening an empty page.

It is almost like the web browsers stop waiting for the web page too quickly.
Pages go immediately to "Done" status, without
displaying any content.

This is driving me nuts.

System:
Dell XPS 730x (Pentium i7, quad-core)
Vista 64 Home Premium
Sound Blaster X-Fi
Actiontech DSL Modem/Router
7mbs DSL link

I'm not the only one seeing this.
There seems to be a fair number of people experiencing similar issues, however I have not been able to find any real solution.

I plan on upgrading to Windows 7 after Christmas.
I do not know whether this will resolve anything.

I'd appreciate any thoughts on this you may have.

Keys to the Problem All web browsers fail to render/load web pages after a while (seems somewhat random in terms of when)__I have also seen this occur even when I do not have any browser running.__

Download Error Fixer (Free)

There is a very good chance that you are seeing the effects of a hijackware infection!
NB: If you had no anti-virus application installed or the subscription had expired *when the machine first got infected* and/or your subscription has since expired and/or the machine's not been kept fully-patched at Windows Update, don't waste your time
with any of the below: Format & reinstall Windows.  A Repair Install will NOT help!
Microsoft PCSafety provides home users (only) with no-charge support in dealing with malware infections such as viruses, spyware (including unwanted software), and adware.

Otherwise...
1.
See if you can download/run the MSRT manually:
http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.mspx
NB: Run the FULL scan, not the QUICK scan!  You may need to download the MSRT on a non-infected machine, then transfer MRT.EXE to the infected machine and rename it to SCAN.EXE before running it.
2a.
WinXP => Run the Windows Live Safety Center's 'Protection' scan (only!) in Safe Mode with Networking, if need be:
http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/center/howsafe.htm
2b.
Vista or Win7=> Run this scan instead:

3.
Now run a thorough check for hijackware, including posting requested logs in an appropriate forum, not here.

If these procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.
