How Can I Fix - Automatic Read Receipts in Windows Phone 8?

Automatic Read Receipts in Windows Phone 8

I'm slightly annoyed to discover that Windows Phone 8 automatically sends out a read receipt when one is requested by a sender.  I tend to think it's my business when & whether I read emails, so usually decline to send read receipts.
Not only does it send receipts, but I do not get any feedback that a receipt has been sent (I only discovered it by chance).  Is there any setting that I can change to not send a receipt by default (like there is with Outlook?)  Or even an indication that
a read receipt has been requested?  I can't find anything on the phone that seems related to receipts...

I can confirm that if an email with a read receipt was sent from an Exchange server, then looking at the sent email on a Windows Phone device will automatically send a "this email was read" message back to the sender.  I have my own Exchange server (Office
365 for Small business) and this is the default behaviour.
There doesn't appear to be an option for setting the receipt response, although it may be in the ActiveSync policy somewhere.

Quoting the answer below for your convenience:
"Read Receipt (RR) is sent out by the exchange server instead of mobile.
This is how it works:
1.      Mail with request for send RR is received on the exchange server
2.      Mail is synchronized with mobile (e.g.
Windows Mobile) using Exchange ActiveSync
3.      When mail is read on mobile, the read status is synchronized back to the server
4.      Exchange server creates and sends out the RR when receiving the read status update
There is no functionality which allows preventing this from occurring on the mobile, at least not windows mobile.
For IPhone, Nokia, please contact their supports to see if they have developed synchronization application differently so the
function can be accomplished on the mobile device
Workaround: Disable RR from sending out to remote domains by clearing the “Allow delivery reports” option.
For exchange 2007 and 2010, you can also remove “Disposition-Notification-TO” header to disable

Cleaning your computer, components, and peripherals help keep everything in good working condition and helps prevent germs from spreading. You can't image how dirty the inside of your computer case can get. All the dust and dirt is going to prevent proper air flow and may even prevent the fan from working.
