After shutting off my Windows 7 Toshiba laptop incorrectly, all my files got erased.

Firefox kept acting up and freezing every 5 seconds, so I got fed up and decided toshut off my laptop by holding down the power button .
This would meanI shut off my computer incorrectly .
I had done this before so I didn't
think anything was going to happen.
I turn on my laptop and log into my account andnext thing i know, ALL my files got deleted .
The programs installed in my computer are still there, but not my saved files such asPictures, Videos,
Music Etc .
Is there any way i can recover these lost files?

Windows is probably playing the same trick with you that we play with very small children: Quickly put the toy behind our backs to make the toddler think that it's gone.
In other words: The files are probably still there but not where you think they are.
Try this to find out:
Log on under an account with admin privileges.
Open the folder C:\Users.
What subfolders can you see? Click Start, then type the three letters cmd into the Search box and press Enter.Type this command and press Enter:
set  userprofile
What response do you get? Type this command and press Enter:
dir  /a  /s  /b  "c:\Users\abc.*"
(Replace abc with the first few letters of a lost file whose name you remember)
What response do you get?
About shutting down the machine with the power button: This is an emergency measure to be used when all else fails.
You should use the Task Manager to shut down a frozen application.
Try uninstalling Firefox, then re-installing it.
By the way, if your files are important, have you considered backing them up regularly to an external medium?

  • Download the Microsoft Windows ISO (installation device) from the following website:
  • Users must select the appropriate ISO, either 32 bit or 64 bit, depending upon their individual computer.
  • Extract the ISO file to a separate USB device or burn the program to a compact disc.
  • Run the Microsoft Windows 10 upgrade directly from the software that you have thus created.
