Solution to Error: After Installing Vista SP2, IE 8 does not work well.

After Installing Vista SP2, IE 8 does not work well.

After installing Vista SP2, IE 8 under my.live.com does not work.  The pages do not download RSS feeds, the page links across the top are not active and generally IE has crapped out.  I have switched from running a full Internet security suite to uninstalling
Trend Micro and put in a plain Jane anit-virus program.

I would like to keep IE8 functioning, but do switch to FireFox if I need to see my RSS feeds or do some serious web browsing.

Also, Live Messenger no longer connects either.

Is there a way I can safely roll my system back to SP1?  I can live without Vista SP2.

Hi Geekster,

Thank you for using Vista Support forum,

IE 8 isn't a part of Vista SP2.  You can safely remove SP2 without removing IE8.

Here's the steps to remove SP2
Method 1: Uninstall the Windows Vista service pack by using the Programs and Features item in Control Panel The easiest way to uninstall a Windows Vista service pack is to use the Programs and Features item in Control Panel.
To uninstall the Windows Vista service
pack by using the Programs and Features item in Control Panel, follow these steps:
Click Start, type Appwiz.cpl in the Start Search box, and then click
Appwiz.cpl in the Programs list.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click
Continue.
Click View installed updates.
Click the service pack that you want to uninstall, and then click Uninstall.

If you cannot see the Uninstall option for Windows Vista service pack in the list, go to method 2.
Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to complete the uninstall process.
If Method 1 doesn't allow you to remove SP2, try different method in this article:
